Building Bridges Across Generations: Workshop Series
A free three-part Zoom training series from the URC Children and Youth Team and Safeguarding, helping churches grow intergenerational communities.

The URC Children and Youth Team, together with Safeguarding, are running a three-part Zoom training series this autumn under the banner Building Bridges Across Generations. The series is designed to help churches foster intergenerational communities, deepen ministry with young people, and grow confidence in working safely and well across the ages.
All three workshops run from 7.30pm to 9.00pm via Zoom, and you're welcome to join one, two, or all three sessions.
The workshops
1. Growing Intergenerational Communities
8 September 2026, 7.30pm – 9.00pm
Topics covered:
- Healthy relationships
- Unconscious bias and roles
- Creating welcoming environments
- Generational theory
2. Developing Spaces for Under 5s
13 October 2026, 7.30pm – 9.00pm
Topics covered:
- Effective communication
- Safe, spiritual spaces
- Creative storybooks and activities
- Missional opportunities in toddler groups
3. Supporting Faith Development in Young People
8 November 2026, 7.30pm – 9.00pm
Topics covered:
- Models of discipleship and mentoring
- Youth groups in private dwellings
- Engaging young people
- Lone working and risk assessments
Who it's for
Anyone in a URC church involved in — or thinking about — ministry with children, young people, or families: ministers, elders, group leaders, volunteers, and safeguarding leads. No prior training is required.

These workshops are an excellent opportunity to enhance your skills in fostering intergenerational relationships and supporting faith development across all ages.
