About Thames North Synod

The Synod supports the mission and ministry of our local churches, working together to do more than we could on our own.

The Purpose of the Synod

The purpose of the Synod is for our local churches to work together to support each other’s mission and ministry. The main meetings of the Synod take place 2-3 times each year when Ministers and other local church representatives meet for worship and to plan our work together.

In addition to this, various committees meet regularly to co-ordinate our work. The Synod has a dedicated team of officers and staff, some based in our London office and others working directly with local churches. By working together, we can finance mission initiatives, develop new leaders, share good practice, provide expertise, and share the resources of ministers and church leaders across the region.

A key example of this collaborative work is our annual Ministers’ Spring School, organised for many years jointly with Eastern Synod to provide refreshment, learning, and fellowship for our ministers.
