Thames North Synod gathers for full Synod meetings 2-3 times a year. The meetings are usually hybrid, that is, attendance in person and via Zoom. The meetings involve approximately 120-150 people, including Ministers and representatives from local churches in the Synod, Committee Members, Staff and children’s/youth representatives.
The meetings include worship, bible study, presentations by some of the Committees and staff of the Synod, and resolutions that set the direction of the Synod and/or establish common approaches adhered to across the Synod.
There are two principles that underpin decision-making at Synod meetings: Firstly, ‘seeking the mind of Christ’ and secondly, establishing consensus so that we can move forward in a spirit of unity. In the first instance we are seeking to discern God’s will for the direction of our churches. We believe this happens when God’s people gather for that purpose, and we believe that the Holy Spirit will guide us so that we can move forward together.
