Our Shared Climate - a celebration and action for justice.

Vine Church, Ilford IG1 1JH
8th June 10.00am - 4.00pm

Day’s Programme

10am Tea, coffee and snacks

10.30 Welcome and Introduction followed by worship - a celebration of diversity in our Synod and the world.

11-1 Children and young people’s activities

11.00 Keynote Speaker -Jeremy Williams author of ‘Climate Change is Racist’.

12.00 Progress with our buildings towards Net Zero at the Vine and across our Synod

1-2 Lunch break - with opportunities to:

  • Sing songs of protest, lament, and hope with Roo Stewart.
  • Use the Thames North Trust indoor Labyrinth to pray for the Earth.

2.00 Introduction to afternoon activities

2-4 Children and Young Peoples’ Eco-Activities with Vine Pilots

2.10 – 3 and 3 – 3.45 Small group sessions on a variety of subjects including:

  • How to apply for Synod Eco grants
  • Global climate issues
  • The ABC of carbon literacy
  • Getting started as Eco Church
  • Practical Green activities -Using urban church land as spaces for wild friendly plants and insects
  • Energy café
  • Speaking up for the planet
  • Talking Climate, Poverty and the General Election.

3.50 Plenary and closing worship

Travel Information

By public transport

The nearest station on the Elizabeth Line is Ilford station - Cranbrook Road exit.

From Ilford station you can take a 10-minute walk through the Ilford High Road shopping centre.

Or take a bus once exiting Ilford Station. There are several buses which stop across the road:

From Ilford Station (Stop K) take 128, 145, 150, 366 to Hainault Street (Stop T)

From Ilford Chapel Road (Stop P) take 25, 123, 147, 167, 179, 364, 425, 462 to Hainault Street (Stop S)

Other bus routes include - 86, 169, SL2 -superloop.

By bike

Cycle racks available.

By car

There is limited parking available but there are plenty of local car parks.

Lidl car park - 2 hours free
Exchange Ilford - 2 hours for £2
Lynton House car park - 2 hours for £3.10
