Thames North Synod celebrates another Lundie Award winner

The latest Lundie award was received by Ethan Rashid for the work he undertook during his 6th form years in the Education programme at Vine Church.

Posted on Monday, March 14, 2022

This award and Trust Fund was established in 1895 in memory of the Reverend Robert Lundie to enable the URC to spotlight some of the amazing work undertaken by children and young people who have given their God given skills to serve others across the synods of the UK.

Monthly for 100 months the URC committed to presenting a child or young person with a certificate, a medal and £100 to be spent on something of their choice that benefits children or young people in their church or synod. This was the second award presented to the Thames North Synod.

Sandra Ackroyd nominated Ethan Rashid for the work he undertook during his 6th form years in the Education programme at Vine. He volunteered as a maths tutor between September 2019 and September 2021. His work was outstanding, he understood the curriculum, was diligent, consistent, and calm. He worked with 10 students. His quiet spirituality and acceptance of all people was observed. He is now a Maths undergraduate at university. Ethan joined Pilots at age 5, attended holiday club and became a volunteer young leader at the age of 13. He has chosen to gift the £100 to the Pilots programme.

Vine church was also commended for their work with young people and Camilla, our youth leader, was presented with a certificate for the church.

Thanks to Sandra for nominating Ethan, Lorraine (CYDO) for presenting the award, Isaac and his team for the filming, Anne and team for the refreshments and Ethan's parents for joining us for this special award ceremony.

Ethan was presented with his award by the Thames North CYDO, Lorraine Downer.
