Thames North Synod | What We Do

Within the United Reformed Church, Synods undertake a wide range of functions to support local churches.

As Thames North Synod, we aim to provide support to local churches through our programmes, committees and staff.

Pastoral Care of Churches

Every year, the Synod organises some regular training events and some special one-off events. Regular events include:

‘Making it work’ Synod Roadshows 2015
The autumn roadshows have been cancelled due to a lack of numbers signing up to attend.  Those who have booked have been contacted.

Ministers’ Spring School
Thames North Synod has been organising an annual Ministers’ Spring Schools for many years jointly with Eastern Synod. The Spring School is organised by a Planning Group consisting of elected Ministers from each Synod and the two Synod Training Officers.

Regular Synod Quiet Days are organised by Revd Viv Randles, Silences & Retreats Link Person for the Synod. She is also available to encourage local churches or groups of churche arranging Quiet Days or exploring aspects of prayer and meditation.

There is a dedicated Facebook page with all the latest information supporting children’s and youth work in Thames North Synod churches. Please click here to visit this site.

Pilots children came to the West Midlands Safari Park from churches across Wales, Scotland and England on a big day out!

Thames North Synod has a team of specialist staff who support churches going through transition and/or experiencing difficulties. We are always happy to hear from Ministers, and take opportunities to explain what we are about!
